About

Todd Nelson graduated from the University of Denver College of Law in 1984 and worked over 31 years with the Colorado State Public Defenders Office from 1985 to 2016, including seven years as Office Head of the Adams County Regional Office. During his career, Todd litigated over 200 jury trials, several dozen homicide trials, and represented clients on five separate death penalty cases in Adams County and Colorado Springs. Cases have ranged from misdemeanor and traffic matters such as DUI’s, to felony sex assaults, child abuse cases, sex assault on child cases, felony drug cases, burglary charges, domestic violence allegations, and numerous other felonies.

For several years Todd was an adjunct Professor at the University of Denver College of Law, teaching both Basic and Advanced Trial Practice. Todd continued teaching younger lawyers the finer points of criminal law and trial work throughout his career as a Public Defender.
